Cristina España is the Viceconsul of Guatemala in Raleigh, with over 11 years of experience of Diplomatic Service, serving 80,000 Guatemalans in NC and 40,000 in SC. She is currently in charge of Cultural, Education and Commercial Affairs, Mobile Consulates and the Protection Department. Helped create the Empowerment Program of Guatemalans in the Carolinas and the Day of Guatemala. Currently serves in 2 Boards, L’école – French School of Raleigh and Guatemalan Support Student Group.

She was previously posted in Atlanta in charge of the Civil Registry Department and covered the 2011 crisis, reaching 6,000 dual citizenship registrations in 2011. She was later assigned in 2012 to be in charge of the Protection Department serving the Guatemalans detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement until 2017 when she was promoted to be Viceconsul in Raleigh.

Viceconsul España holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising and Marketing from the Universidad Latina of Costa Rica and the European University of Madrid. She has a background as a Theater Director in Guatemala and California with formal studies in Fine and Contemporary Arts.

Cristina España es la Vicecónsul de Guatemala en Raleigh, con más de 11 años de experiencia en Servicio Diplomático, sirviendo a 80,000 guatemaltecos en NC y 40,000 en SC. Actualmente está a cargo de Asuntos Culturales, Educativos y Comerciales, Consulados Móviles y el Departamento de Protección. Ayudó a crear el Programa de Empoderamiento de los guatemaltecos en las Carolinas y el Día de Guatemala. Actualmente se desempeña en 2 Juntas, L’école – Escuela Francesa de Raleigh y Grupo de Estudiantes de Apoyo de Guatemala.

Anteriormente estuvo asignada en Atlanta a cargo del Departamento de Registro Civil y cubrió la crisis de 2011, alcanzando 6,000 registros de doble ciudadanía en 2011. Luego fue asignada en 2012 para estar a cargo del Departamento de Protección que atiende a los guatemaltecos detenidos por el Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas. hasta 2017 cuando fue ascendida a Vicecónsul en Raleigh.

Viceconsul España es Licenciado en Publicidad y Marketing por la Universidad Latina de Costa Rica y la Universidad Europea de Madrid. Tiene experiencia como Directora de Teatro en Guatemala y California con estudios formales en Bellas Artes y Arte Contemporáneo.

Claudia Velasco Osorio, Consul General of Mexico in Raleigh started her diplomatic career in 1992, working at the Embassies of Mexico in Brazil and Bolivia, as well as in the Permanent Mission of Mexico to the United Nations, and consular duties in Dallas and Houston, acting as Deputy Consul in the latter.

In June 2019, she assumed the position of Consul General in Raleigh, strengthening ties with the Mexican community in the Carolinas.

Promoting Mexican culture in both Carolinas has been one of her priorities. In the area of community development, it is worth noting the strengthening of matters of health, especially relevant in face of the ongoing pandemic, working closely with strategic partners.

Claudia Velasco Osorio, Cónsul General de México en Raleigh inició su carrera diplomática en 1992, trabajando en las Embajadas de México en Brasil y Bolivia, así como en la Misión Permanente de México ante las Naciones Unidas, y deberes consulares en Dallas y Houston. actuando como Cónsul Adjunto en este último.

En junio de 2019, asumió el cargo de Cónsul General en Raleigh, fortaleciendo los lazos con la comunidad mexicana en las Carolinas.

Promover la cultura mexicana en ambas Carolinas ha sido una de sus prioridades. En el área de desarrollo comunitario, cabe destacar el fortalecimiento de los temas de salud, especialmente relevantes ante la pandemia en curso, trabajando en estrecha colaboración con socios estratégicos.

Vicky Carrillo is the co-founder and director of Baile Folclórico Vicky Academy.
The academy’s only mission is to promote and rescue the values and traditions of the Mexican culture” and has more than 10 years, volunteering and participating in different cultural events throughout the triangle area. They also prepare food for 200 farm workers and deliver the meals to the camps. They do this 3 to 4 times each year during the summer months with the help of families and with the support of a local church.
Brígida Carrillo originally from Guadalajara Jalisco Mexico is a Chemist by profession and now a Montessori Teacher for 13 years. She married Luis Enrique Muñiz with two children Andrea Muñiz and Elber Muñiz all of Mexican nationality. My children were the inspiration of the Vicky folk dance, to help maintain the Mexican roots and know the culture and feel proud of their roots, for which I decided to share it with others and so the Vicky folk dance was born.

La única misión de la academia es promover y rescatar los valores y tradiciones de la “cultura mexicana” y tiene más de 10 años, haciendo voluntariado y participando en diferentes eventos culturales en toda la zona del triángulo. También preparan alimentos para 200 campesinos y entregan las comidas. Hacen esto de 3 a 4 veces al año durante los meses de verano con la ayuda de las familias y con el apoyo de una iglesia local.
Brígida Carrillo originaria de Guadalajara Jalisco Mexico Química de profesión y ahora Maestra Montessori desde hace 13 años. Casada con Luis Enrique Muñiz con dos hijos Andrea Muñiz y Elber Muñiz todos de nacionalidad Mexicana. Mis hijos fueron la inspiración del baile folclórico Vicky, para ayudar a mantener las raíces mexicanas y conocer la cultura y sentirse orgullosos de sus raíces, por lo cual decidí compartirlo con los demás así nació el baile folclórico Vicky.
