Kurma Murrain es Filóloga de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia y es una escritora y poeta. Sus obras incluyen el libro de poesía titulado Esta Soy publicado en 1998, In the Prism of Your Soul: En el Prisma de Tu Alma (Xlibris 2014), el relato bilingüe La Fragancia del Agua (Main Street Rag 2014) escrito junto con 5 poetas latinos y varios trabajos literarios en los Estados Unidos de América.
Su poesía ha sido publicada en periódicos internacionales y en revistas de internet tales como El Tiempo, Que Pasa, La Noticia y Label Me Latina/o, al igual que en el diario poético (poetry journal) Iodine.
Adicionalmente, ha traducido libros del inglés al español los cuales incluyen Life in the Shadow of the Swastika (La Vida Bajo la Sombra de la Esvástica) escrito por Frieda Roos-Van Hessen y Honoring God with my Life (Una Mujer Virtuosa) escrito por Miriam Nadler.
Sus poemas han sido escogido en competencia nacional por ARTE LATINO NOW: An Exhibition of the Latino Artists en la Universidad Queens de Charlotte durante dos años consecutivos (2014 y 2015). Arte Latino Now resalta las grandes contribuciones de los latinos a la cultura americana. Además ha sido poeta invitada en eventos como Arte + Poesia + Musica organizado por Opera Carolina y el Museo Mint entre otros.
En Charlotte (Carolina del Norte) es miembro fundador de los grupos literarios ArteSanos de la Palabra y VozEs al mismo tiempo ha sido voluntaria en programas como ArtSi, Gil Project -Flag of Hope (Proyecto Gil –Bandera de Esperanza) y otras iniciativas artísticas educacionales.
Kurma Murrain is a Philologist at the National University of Colombia and is a writer and poet. In Charlotte (North Carolina), she is a founding member of the literary groups ArteSanos de la Palabra y VozEs. At the same time, she has volunteered in programs such as ArtSi, Gil Project -Flag of Hope and other artistic educational initiatives.
