The book “One Hundred Years of Solitude” has as its main stage the town of Macondo.
Garcia Marquez presents it as a village that is established in the the “Colombian Military Junta” and has as the main protagonists the “Good Day” family. Macondo is a reflection of the humanity that interprets the lifelike, a mixture of magic and reality by its beliefs and customs.
While reading and reading about García Márquez and his work “One Hundred Years of Solitude” I wanted to find an inspiration of the writer’s ideas in order to paint it. I discovered that once he said: “Fortunately, Macondo is not a place but a state of mind that allows one to see what he wants to see, and see him as he wants.” At that moment I felt part of his work and I started to try to talk about it with colors and shapes, but looking for a more colorful mood that would take away the loneliness of their characters. I finally got this picture and I named it “MACONDO”.
La obra ” Cien años de soledad” tiene como escenario principal el pueblo de Macondo.
Garcia Marquez lo presenta como un poblado que se establece en la Junta colombiana y tiene como principales protagonistas a la familia de los Buen día. Macondo es un reflejo de la humanidad que interpreta la vida como una mezcla de magia y realidad por sus creencias y costumbres.
Mientras leía y leía sobre García Márquez y su obra “Cien años de soledad” yo quería encontrar una inspiración en las ideas del escritor para pintarla. Entonces descubrí que una vez él dijo: “Por fortuna, Macondo no es un lugar sino un estado de ánimo que le permite a uno ver lo que quiere ver, y verlo como quiere”. En ese momento me sentí parte de su obra y comencé a tratar de hablar de ella con colores y formas, pero buscando ponerle un estado de ánimo más colorido que les quitara la soledad a sus personajes. Finalmente me salió este cuadro y le puse “MACONDO”.
Ernesto says: I am Cuban, born and raised and since I was a child I used to draw and paint for simple fun, other times I did it to please friends who asked me to paint something. Throughout my life until now I have painted many things but it has never been anything formal, nor do I currently own any of my work. More often than not, what I painted was whatever I could sell quickly to people; I painted to earn a living. I do not have specific techniques or styles, I am experimental and I like to try new things to see what develops. I believe that this way I can be more creative, because I remain open to any idea, any material, anything that works for me, my way of seeing and feeling. As in everything it takes love. Many times things just develop organically. I use color so it can take the lead role of a picture that I intend to make with simple shapes. I like to take advantage of the natural power of color because it helps a lot to achieve beauty with simple strokes. Simply put, I’m an artist because I paint.
Ernesto dice: Soy Cubano y desde niño solía dibujar y pintar por simple diversión, otras veces lo hacía por complacer a amigos que me pedían que les pintara algo. A lo largo de mi vida hasta ahora he pintado muchas cosas pero nunca ha sido nada formal, ni tengo ninguna obra. Más bien muchas veces lo que hacía era lo que le podía vender a la gente, pintaba para buscarme la vida. No tengo técnica y estilos concretos, soy empírico y me gusta probar a ver qué me sale. Yo creo que así puedo ser más creativo porque me mantengo abierto a cualquier idea, cualquier material, cualquier cosa que me funcione a mí, a mi manera de ver y de sentir, como todo lo que lleva amor. Muchas veces las cosas van saliendo por el camino. Cuando uso el color es para que él tome el protagonismo de un cuadro que pienso hacer con formas simples. Me gusta aprovechar el poder natural del color porque ayuda mucho a lograr belleza con trazos sencillos. En fin, soy pintor porque pinto.
