When I Lost Myself. Archival pigment print, 24×16”. 2015
To create this image, I asked the dancer to get inspired by the dichotomy of the human condition. Don Quijote lived a dichotomy, fallen and raising. The superimposed images on my piece were created live on camera and were driven solely by intuition, chance and a momentary connection of our feelings. The use of Photography and the fast nature of strobe lighting allows me to make visible what cannot be seen by the human eye.
My work is figurative photography. A minimalist yet vibrant and powerful aesthetic is born through reflections, color, lines and shadows. I found my work influenced by gestural and surrealist painters I have been watching since I was a child.
